Civil and Commercial Litigation
We have a broad Litigation Practice Group who has a long-standing relationship with the insurance industry and has an established expertise in defense of tort claims and resolution of insurance coverage issues. Our attorneys have defended numerous class actions. Several of our attorneys focus their practice on construction law, real estate litigation, employment law, contract litigation, toxic tort and criminal law. In addition, the firm has a strong appellate practice group.
Alternative Dispute Resolution
We counsel our clients to determine which dispute resolution method best addresses their needs and how to pursue the chosen course of action. Determining the appropriate strategy is frequently the most important aspect of our counsel
Arbitration
A third party is brought in to hear the facts of the case, review documents, briefs and exhibits, listen to lay and expert witnesses, and render a settlement between the parties. This is similar to a hearing in court before a judge.
Mediation
The use of an agreed-upon mediator can be a cost-effective way to negotiate a settlement between the parties. A mediator evaluates the issues in a case, its merits and defenses, and works with the parties to agree upon a solution to the dispute.
Appellate Advocacy
Our attorneys provide research, briefing and oral argument of writ applications, post-trial motions and civil and criminal appeals in state and federal courts. The principal attorneys in our Appellate Advocacy Group have more than eighty years combined experience arguing appeals in the state and federal appeals courts. They have won groundbreaking victories in the Washington Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. They are familiar with the judges, the internal procedures, and the personalities of these courts. They have applied this in-depth experience, earned in the Pacific Northwest, to win victories for clients in state and federal courts from Alaska to Florida.
