For many years, Nick handled cases through both trial and appeal. Using insights learned serving his clients in litigation, he now focuses his practice exclusively on civil appeals in state and federal court. His practice touches all facets of the appellate process, including preservation of error, discretionary review, merits and amicus briefing, argument, and consultation.
Writing is Nick’s passion. That passion inspires him to craft the most compelling legal arguments for his clients. His invaluable skill is turning the complex into beautiful simplicity. Where nearly all appeals are won on the briefing, Nick’s clients value his exceptional brief writing as a testament to the perfection of his craft.
No matter the area of law, he takes a creative approach to understand the particular facts, circumstances, and legal issues involved in each case to develop the winning strategy.
In law school, he externed for the Honorable Thomas S. Zilly of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington and interned for the Federal Trade Commission. After law school, he clerked for Chief Justice Barbara Madsen at the Washington Supreme Court, where he drafted judicial opinions and gained valuable insight into the appellate decision-making process.
In his free time, Nick enjoys spending time with his wife, hiking around Washington, watching movies, and reading.
